Rhulen Church
Phil Jones (c) 2005
Dedication: St. David

Yet another of the white washed churches, probably dating from the c1300, with later building work. This unassuming, yet very attractive church set high on the valley sides has a wooden tower set on top of a slated roof. The font, octagonal in shape is said to be around 1400. One can easily imagine why these churches take the profile they have - economy for one, and their thick white washed walls and low profile seem ideal for the wet weather blown by a strong wind which seems to typify winter in these isles.
