Nantmel Church
(c) Phil Jones
Dedication: St. Cynllo

This building is set half-way up a hillside above the A44 between Crossgates and Rhayader, north-west of Llandrindod Wells. Approached via a steep, single track road alongside the village school, there is ample parking opposite the church, and access is up some stone steps and through a slate roofed lychgate. With daffodils and primroses amongst the gravestones. Views over the valley including the pipeline carrying water from the Elan Valley reservoirs to the city of Birmingham. The church was extensively rebuilt in 18th century with little remaining even of the 17th century tower. Remodelling done in 1881.
