Llanstephan Church
Phil Jones (c) 2005
Dedication: St Stephan or Ystyffan

This Church is high up the side of the Wye valley on the Radnorshire side between the villages of Boughrood and Erwood. The main entrance to the churchyard has a lychgate (possibly 18th century?) which includes a stable. In the roof of this lychgate you can see the biers used to carry coffins. Probably a 13th century foundation with additions of 14th, 15th and 17th centuries. Not the easiest church to find, but well worth it, especially in spring and summer with daffodils decorating the graveyard, and magnificent views of the Wye valley towards Llyswen.
